Four years after the construction of the Baseball diamond at the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education & Sport, the college has continued on a quest to develop the game of Baseball in Jamaica. Jamaican-born, former San Francisco Giant baseball player, Andrew Dixon is currently teaching baseball at the College. Dixon, who was inducted into the San Francisco Giants Baseball Team 1986 played for 7 years and has returned to assist in the development of the game.
Dixon, who lives in the United States has taken time-off from his job in America to help to develop the Sport in Jamaica. He added that the game can be a very viable source of income and that it can help a lot of talented youngsters.
His aim for the 4 months that he is here at the institution is to prepare coaches in relation to the fundamentals and theory of the game, and they will then go out and develop young talents to carry the sport to another level in Jamaica. He is looking to aid in developing baseball players who will be able to receive scholarships from colleges or teams abroad.

G.C. Foster College embarked on an initiative to offer support to the community during this time of crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 13, 2020, care packages were distributed to members of the surrounding community who have exhibited a need and would have benefitted from the College’s support over the years. The G.C. Foster College continues to shine as a beacon of light, not only through physical education and sport, but through supporting the community.
G.C. Foster College is now accepting applications for the Free ICT Technical Support Programme for January 2020. This programme is offered jointly by the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) and NCTVET. Participants will be trained and certified to work in the growing BPO Sector.
