Construction has started on an additional area of the college’s Field Events Area to improve the standard of facilities in the development of future teachers and coaches, ensuring the effectiveness of training sessions and competitions. These developments include;
the construction of a discus cage and ring
an additional discus ring
three Shot Put rings
and Long Jump/Triple Jump pit.
This will complement the newly constructed running track at the college as it will ease the excess traffic , enabling us to maximize on its quality. The track that is presently awaiting IAAF certification will be able to accommodate local and international competitions at the college and will aid in the development of athletics at the college and the wider nation.
“The field events area will help during competitions as far too often athletes are unable to compete at track meets because of limited facilities during the time allotted and the number of athletes registered to compete” said Marlon Gayle, Lecturer at G.C. Foster College.
More facilities mean more opportunities for growth and development of young athletes. They will benefit in field events for competition on the world stage.
G.C. Foster College continues to strive to become a world class training institution producing excellent teachers, sports and recreational professionals to meet local, regional and international standards.
